The Grouch (1/8th of the group Living Legends) ripped the mic on Saturday, January 16th at Merced’s the  Partisan. The show was presented by Yoga for Your Ears and also included performances by local favorites The Realistrators (Gaws, Sick Sense, & Anatik), Destructo Bunny, & Atlantis Rising (Jfeve, Tha Thurd, & Jusmone of Grains of Sand). E-40 returned to downtown Modesto on Saturday, January 22nd for a performance at the Fat Cat. The night also had many opening acts including DJ Ill-Eagle, DJ Weaksass, Bonus Traxx, Jabberjawz, V.I., Nikfuq, Cobalt, Kristi Porter, & Skitzo the Incledible. More info at http://myspace.com/e40

Sellassie (from San Francisco) held one of his many ‘We All We Got’ independent artist showcases at the Silk Bar in Sacramento on Saturday, the 30th of January. Featured in that night’s showcase were South of Sanity, Goldnstablez, J. Meast, Jah Hunn, I-80 Andretti, Double Vision Records, Nash Quest, & JaNetix. More info at  http://myspace.com/sellassie  

2Mex, Sherman Austin, Sacrife, Atzlan Underground, & Olmeca made-up a revolutionary line-up when they performed on Friday, February 5th at Chuco’s Justice Center in Inglewood, LA. Eligh & Scarub (1/4th of Living Legends) attempted a performance on Friday, February 19th at Heros in downtown Modesto. The night got off to a great start with performances from Cobalt, Nikfuq, Thunderhut Project, Jabberjawz, Computer Chip, The Fourcast, Bonus Traxx, Deraj the Scatterbrain, Talk to Starngers, & Tha Thurd, but as soon as the head-liners took the stage ‘Modesto’s Finest’ (aka the Pigs) said that the crowd was having too much fun and had to disperse. Chants of “Fuck the Police” broke out while the Melancholy Gypsys did a song a cappella and the night ended early. Fuck you MPD!!! Rtystk, a native of Oakland and current resident of Stockton, debuted his hand-painted T-Shirt collection inspired by his graffiti art background. Celly-Cel made sure it was going down on the night of Friday, February 26th at the Fat Cat in downtown Modesto. Before the Vallejo rapper appeared the crowd was treated to the sounds of Jabberjawz, Cobalt, Hear that Sound, Stunna Boyz, Kautious, & DJ Reces. More info at http://myspace.com/cellycel

Boca Floja, Para la Gente, Machetero, Kalizay performed at the Brown Beret Bike Shack in Watsonville on Sunday, the 28th of February. The event was sponsored by the Watsonville Brown Berets & El Quilombo Arte and included food, domino & chess competitions, graffiti art, and more.
